Family Fun

Aloha! My name is "Koloa Kolohe," which means Playful Duck in Hawaiian. I am here to tell you all about the fun things you can see and do when you visit Kaanapali Beach Hotel.

First of all, the hotel employees really enjoy having kids visit. Did you know that all the kids pictured throughout this website are the children (or grandchildren) of our employees? Check out this photo below and you'll see what I mean!

Daughters and granddaughters of the staff
From left to right: Crystal, daughter of Elsa in Rooms; Aubrey, daughter of Lori in Sales; Jerica, daughter of Belinda in F & B; Makanalani, granddaughter of Janice in Accounting; Melanie, daughter of Leo in Housekeeping; Keana, daughter of Esterlyn in Rooms; Britni, daughter of Carol in Sales.

In Hawaiian, the word for child or children is "keiki", pronounced kay-key. Our employees consider keiki VIP guests! You and your family are going to feel right at home here.

Fun Activities for the Whole Family

The hotel is right on the beach where you can swim, build sandcastles, skim board, and boogie board. Snorkeling or SCUBA (to SCUBA dive you have to be at least 12 years old), cliff diving, whale watching (December to May), parasailing (June-November), and all kinds of ocean activities are a must. If you prefer fresh water, we have a whale-shaped swimming pool just for you.

You will be sure to enjoy all the fun things to do here with your family. Our hotel takes special pride to include you with your parents and even your grandparents in learning Hawaiian culture with activities like hula lessons, ukulele lessons, and lei making. That’s why we were given a special award from Family Travel Forum as one of the best 10 hotels for families!

You can learn a lot about Hawaii and its people by joining our Hawaiian activities program. Every day there is something new and different to do. Click here to read all about these fun KBH vacation activities!

Free Kids Program

You can join our special program if you're 12 years or younger. It's called "Aloha Passport for Kids." It's fun and free! Your family will be able to play together as you visit areas of the hotel and learn Hawaiian arts and crafts. Aloha Passport for Kids is a family program rather than a drop-off kids' camp.

You and your parents will begin by visiting our Guest Services center to sign up and get your Aloha Passport with your name in Hawaiian. If you are 6-12 years old there are 12 passport destinations, and kids 3-5 years old have an eight-destination passport.

The destinations include Hawaiian activities like hula lessons, lauhala weaving, or flower lei making. The hotel shops and restaurants are also passport locations. At each destination, your passport is stamped with a Hawaiian word and you'll receive a fun gift to play with while staying at the hotel and to keep as a special souvenir.

Even babies two years old and younger can receive a passport card with their Hawaiian name and a beach bucket filled with toys to play with on vacation.

Don't forget to tell Mom and Dad about Aloha Passport for Kids; it's fun, it's free, and it's all the time - just for you!

Great Food. Affordable Prices

Families really enjoy the food and affordable prices at the restaurants at Kaanapali Beach Hotel.

The Kaanapali Mixed Plate Restaurant serves three all-you-can-eat buffets daily. Children 6-12 years old eat at a reduced price, and 5 years or younger always eat free as long as accompanied by a paid adult.

Then there's the Tiki Terrace Restaurant where you can enjoy breakfast or dinner. The restaurant opens into the Tiki Courtyard where there's a free hula show and Hawaiian music every night - so you can practice your hula! At the Tiki Terrace Restaurant, families are welcomed - and since you're a keiki you get your very own Hawaiian menu to color. Also remember, if you're 5 years and younger you eat free with a paid adult when ordering off the children's menu.

When your family wants to enjoy a picnic, the Tiki Grill has burgers cooked to order, great sandwiches, foot-long hot dogs, salads, nachos, and ice cold drinks. Be sure and stop by the Grill while enjoying your day at the beach or pool!
