Famed Trilogy Sailing Family Joins Kaanapali Beach Hotel
Kaanapali Beach, Maui, Hawaii - Kaanapali Beach Hotel recently
welcomed the Coon family and Trilogy Excursions to its ohana
(family). Trilogy Excursions will manage and operate the beach
activities at Kaanapali Beach Hotel. The beach in front of the hotel
has become the launch home of Trilogy IV, a 50 foot sloop rigged
catamaran, built on Kaua‘i.
Coon brothers Jim and Randy come from a family of three sailing
generations. For 25 years they have operated charters in the waters
off Maui, Lanai and Molokai. Their pursuit of excellence in sailing
fits the tradition of pookela (excellence) at Kaanapali Beach
Hotel.
Hospitality is not new to the Coon family, who shower their clients
with attention and aloha. At the hotel, they offer guests snorkel,
dive and sailing experiences. Safety is a major emphasis of the
instruction they provide visitors who may be experiencing underwater
sightseeing for the first time.
Trilogy IV is reminiscent of the moku pe‘a (double hulled sailing
ships) of the ancient Hawaiians. Mike White, General Manager of
Kaanapali Beach Hotel welcomed Trilogy and the Coon family as "a
wonderful addition to our menu of guest activities; one that supports
the great Hawaiian traditions of sailing and hookipa (hospitality)."
