Kaanapali Mixed Plate Restaurant #1 For Hawaiian Food
Kaanapali Beach, Maui, Hawaii - The Kaanapali Mixed Plate
Restaurant, has been voted "Best Hawaiian Food" by the readers of the
Maui News. Every year the readers of Maui News, the principal
newspaper for the three island county, are asked to rate their food
favorites in a variety of categories. This is the second consecutive
year in which the restaurant, located at Kaanapali Beach Hotel, has
been honored with the award for best Hawaiian food. The restaurant
offers affordable all-you-can-eat buffets.
The hotel has for years been recognized for its commitment to
preserving and sharing the Hawaiian culture. Island-born Executive
Chef, Tom Muromoto has translated this commitment into an authentic
Hawaiian menu, called Kulaiwi Cuisine, literally translated as
"native land cuisine." Modeled after the native Hawaiian diet,
Kulaiwi Cuisine was developed from the belief held by Hawaiian people
that their diet (before western influence reached the islands)
nurtured wellness. Being very low in fat, common illnesses like
diabetes, heart and gallbladder disease, cancer, arthritis and
obesity were virtually nonexistent in the native Hawaiian population.
Kaanapali Beach Hotel, officially recognized as Maui’s Most Hawaiian
Hotel, is also home to the Tiki Terrace Restaurant. It has received
accolades for its authentic Hawaiian cuisine and awards for its
historic Hawaiian art, most of which is a part of the Bishop Museum
Collection. This is also the perfect venue to enjoy the nightly hula
show and live Hawaiian music for dancing under the stars - a hotel
tradition since 1981.
"It is our goal to incorporate Hawaiian culture in all aspects of our
guests experience," according to General Manager, Mike White.
"Visitors and Maui residents can enjoy the flavors of Hawai‘i at
breakfast, lunch or dinner in Kaanapali Beach Hotel’s two
restaurants."
